在準備推薦信之前，當然就是要先確定有誰可以幫你寫推薦信。然後再依照你們共同的經驗去準備。所以，在準備申請留學的文件開始時，就能禮貌性的先詢問有哪些人可以幫你。建議在九月就可以開始先詢問，有些老師或是主管很忙，你可以先預定下來。
再來，如果你找的對象是系主任、老師這一類的，你可以提及你是什麼學校、第幾屆的誰誰誰，或是你曾經在系上做過什麼事情，讓老師回憶一下你是誰。到底我申請學校的時候已經畢業兩年了，所以避免萬一老師們會遺忘我，還是自己先自我介紹好了。(如下圖)
那要是你詢問的對象是實習時後的主管呢？同樣的道理，只要把你什麼時候去實習的、實習的時後做了什麼事情讓實習的主管回想一下就好摟，其實可以發現整個架構都差不多，變動的只有你和老師的共同經歷而已。(如下圖)
接下來，你會得到老師、主管們的回覆，這也是為什麼需要在九月的時後就先把推薦人先預定下來，因為他們也都很忙碌，所以越提早講越讓想幫你的人不會感到很急促。像是我的三個推薦人包含系主任、我的指導老師、還有實習時後的主管，他們三個分別要籌備新公司、去土耳其和印度出差。(如下圖)
看到這裡不必擔心！其實老師、主管們都會很樂意幫助你，再來只需要把你草擬好的推薦信寄給老師，讓老師稍作修改就好摟！致於推薦信到底要怎麼寫呢？由於我是自己準備的推薦信，除了努力爬文之外也沒有特別請專業人士修改，所以就請大家笑一笑了。
你的每一個推薦人對你的熟悉度都不太相同，當提筆開始寫推薦信的時後可以回想他們曾經對你稱讚什麼？又或是他們覺得你哪裡需要改進？你們共同經歷了哪些事情？第一篇我要貼上來的是系主任給我的推薦信內容。主要包含，我修過哪些老師的課程、運用熟悉運用什麼軟體、一些個人特質、得獎經驗、參加系上舉辦國際性的工作營等等。
To Whom It May Concern,
It is my pleasure to recommend Miss Chia-Chi Wu as a qualified graduate student for the MID program at your University.
I have known Chia-Chi for more than 4 years as she was one of my best students since her days in the Dept. of Industrial Design, Tung-Hai University. She took several of my courses during her undergraduate study, including “Computer Aided Design”, “Products Development” and “Product Design”. In all of these classes, she showed a very high degree of understanding and obtained good grades. Moreover, during these courses, we used Pro/E and Solidworks as the 3D model development tools for design and animation. She displayed an impressive ability to handle design projects using the Solidworks system. In addition, Chia-Chi has great communication skills with her classmates and friends, the ability to conduct research independently, and excellent organizational skills. Based on Chia-Chi's research background and project participation, I'd rate her academic performance as superior. Besides, Chia-Chi not only has local vision but also has global one. For instance, she went to Tokyo and Fujian for exhibitions and won bronze prize and Golden prize in separately. Furthermore, when there were international designers such as Chiaki Murata coming to Taiwan for workshops, Chia-Chi could communicate with them in fluent English, and gained first hand suggestions.
Finally, I would like to state that Chia-Chi is a person of great integrity and innovation. She is extremely dedicated to her research work with independence and reliability. Based on the above, I highly recommend her to your MID program. I believe she can make great contributions in her research field in the future. 下面則是我畢業專題老師給我的推薦信。我一直認為推薦人找指導老師是一定要的，因為他扎扎實實跟你相處了一年，很少會有其他推薦人和你相處這麼久的時光並且在設計過程中反覆的聆聽你的想法還有一起討論。也可以說是我大四那年遇到了一位非常好的指導老師，不只在畢業專題上給了我很多方法，也改變了我一些觀念，非常感謝他。而內容主要包含相處的經歷、他對我個性的描述。
To Whom It May Concern,
Ms Chia-Chi Wu is a student that I am really proud of. I was her advisor when she was doing her graduation design. To my surprise, Chia-Chi showed me her concret proposal that she had been preparing for at least half a year ago instead of just showing a rough plan in our first meeting. I could see Chia-Chi’s ambition and aspiration through either her proposal or her action.
In the year of being Chia-Chi’s advisor, I found out that she was an open-minded person and not afraid of embracing challenges. Although we did not have much time to complete a project, Chia-Chi seldom said no to any possibilities. In contrast, she kept doing many experiments until she was satisfied with the results. Besides, we have an annual exhibition which gather almust all design departments in Taiwan to display their works. When most of young designers just placed their works on tables, Chia-Chi wished herself to present like a professional show and took a simple yet eye-catching way to display her project. She could take the environment of exhibition into consideration and figure out the proper solution to demonstrate her works, not many students could think of this.
In spite of Chia-Chi’s projects won numerous awards and had been exhibited at several exhibitions in various countries, she was not niggardly of share her tips to others. After graduating from Tunghai University, she had came back to our school to share her experience to students when she could. I believe that generousness is one of important personalties to a designer, because we have to cooperate with other people sometimes.
According to the viewpoints above, I extremely recommend Ms Chia-Chi Wu to your MID programe. I have faith that she will be a potential student.

Dear Admissions Officer,
During summer vocation, Chia-Chi, Wu came to our company, OOOOOO, for 2 months full-time internship in 2011. Now, I am writing this recommendation letter in support of Ms. Chia-Chi Wu's application to your MID program, the reasons are below:
Firstly, I have to say Chia-Chi was a self-driven, ambitious student. When I was teaching in Tung-Hai University, I was impressed by her performance either on and off the class. The portfolio she gave me for applying internship was complete and well-organized that I seldom see in the college students. Secondly, according to her lead designer during the internship, she was a passionate designer and very willing to learn. In her internship, we did some projects such as OOOOOO and OOOOOO, an old, esteemed electronics brand in Taiwan, and her works exceeded my expectation. In every presentation, she made different models to illustrate her proposal that we did not ask for.
OOOOOO puts high stress on innovation and aesthetics. We design products and invent new products to make our world better. Chia-Chi comprehensively understood it, so she always gave us both practical proposals and conceptual proposals. I convince that Chia-Chi will become a designer with the ability of design thinking and the sense of beauty. Besides, I took a look of her graduation project in person, that was an eye-pleasing and award-winning lamp. Chia-Chi used the change of state of water with her lamp to let her lamp looks different in every moment without electricity and it is absolutely an original view and have to do many experiments to support it. She kept exploring the possibility of design and coming up with interesting ideas. Therefore, I believe that Chia-Chi will be a student with significant potential. I strongly recommend her to your MID program.
